Please read carefully. This is a legally binding contract once you adopt your pet. All applicants are screened for suitable placement of our animals.

PLEASE READ OUR ADOPTION POLICIES BELOW BEFORE EMAILING US WITH "GENERAL" QUESTIONS.

If you still have questions please take the time to read our ADOPTION CONTRACT , which should answer any questions that you may have concerning our adoption policies or your responsibility as a new adopter of one of our rescue babies. You will be required to sign it and adhere to our regulations.

ADOPTION POLICIES

Please read our policies for adoption carefully. If our policies are not acceptable to you, we regretfully ask that you do not apply to adopt one of our pets. Please do not fill out an application if you are not ready to pick up your new pet should you be approved.

Please note that we can never say with complete certainty that our babies are 100% potty-trained. We are always hesitant to claim any pet is completely housebroken as we want you to expect to have to reinforce training in your own home as the babies initially adjust to a new atmosphere. Mere nerves can cause an otherwise very well housebroken dog to have many accidents in a new home for the first few days/weeks. There is always a period of adjustment, and you must be willing to work with your new family member and expect to have to continue training in your home.

The adoption fee is non refundable. We screen our adopters carefully and we expect your decision to adopt to be thought out carefully. We expect you to realize that your commitment is for the life of the dog. Our adoption fees vary. We are a "hard rescue organization" which means that we accept dogs with serious medical needs. In addition to treating the usual minor medical conditions, vaccinating, and altering, we also arrange for more expensive procedures such as heart worm treatments, orthopedic surgeries, and ophthalmic care. In order to pay for this expensive care, we must ask for an "adoption fee" and donations. Occasionally, certain breeds and/or extremely excessive costs involved in the rescue and/or care of a particular dog or many dogs needing surgery in our rescue at one time may cause our adoption fees to be higher than we normally would ask for. The adoption fee helps defray the vet costs of the dog you are inquiring about and the extremely high veterinary bills that are incurred by the many animals we save. Our costs incurred almost always greatly exceed any adoption fees we receive and we operate in extreme debt most of the time. We are a small rescue, we have no grants or funding. The time and amount of money it takes to make these pets the beautiful, adoptable and socialized babies you see is extensive. We also have "special needs" dogs that require continual and specialized veterinary care. Our dogs are always altered, have vaccinations, heart worm tests, and are on heart worm and flea and tick preventative. Many times they have been professionally groomed several times and some have had various other costly medical procedures.

We are not a "public shelter". We are a group of foster homes. Unfortunately we do not have public facilities and are unable to let people "come see all of the dogs" or visit with the dogs at their foster homes. Our fosters are all volunteers, give much time and care to these animals and some of our fosters prefer to not have to deal with people continually coming to their homes. Once you are approved for adoption, a volunteer will pick up your dog from it's foster home on day of adoption and meet you at a public location. We do this for the safety and convenience of all parties involved. Occasionally a foster parent might want you to come to their home to meet your new pet, that is completely at the discretion of each individual foster parent/home. When you adopt a baby from here, you also save the life of one who is scheduled to die in a kill shelter, because you have opened up a space for that new pet to come here. This is also why we request you to pick up your new pet, if approved, as soon as possible. Space is always limited yet we always have a huge waiting list of dogs needing our help to save their lives.

We sometimes receive many applications on each dog. If we have several qualified applicants, we will choose the best home for that particular dog in our opinion. We are all volunteers. We do this out of our love for the animals and receive no financial compensation.

WE DO NOT ADOPT TO HOMES WITH CHILDREN.

We reserve the right to decline adoption of any animal to any person for any reason, with no explanation.

ADOPTION APPLICATION

Please read the following carefully and make sure you understand everything you initial.

Please INITIAL the following, acknowledging your acceptance and commitment to each statement listed. Please also realize your typed and or handwritten signature below also constitutes your acceptance to each statement listed below.

PLEASE INITIAL AFTER EACH STATEMENT:

I have filled out and signed or submitted via the internet, a contract with Precious Paws Asian and Small Breed Rescue and I understand this is a legally binding document once I have adopted.

In the event the animal I adopt is not altered at time of adoption, I agree to have animal altered when old enough and provide written verification from the vet who performed the operation or animal will be confiscated by Precious Paws Asian Dog Rescue, no exceptions.

I agree that this pet will be kept current on all vaccines and heart worm test, and seen by my veterinarian at least once a year. I agree to provide parasite control and heart worm preventative for all dogs in my home all year round. I agree to show proof of this to any representative of Precious Paws Asian and Small Breed Dog Rescue if asked.

I agree that this pet will always be kept current on all licensing requirements by the state and city in which I live. I agree to show proof of this to any representative of Precious Paws Asian and Small Breed Dog Rescue if I am asked.

I agree to provide quality, name brand food and fresh water 24 hours a day for this pet.

I agree that this pet will be strictly and exclusively an indoor family pet and will not be used in any way detrimental to him/her; such as for medical research or in any way that could cause hardship or pain to the dog.

I agree to provide daily exercise for this dog under my supervision and will not allow him/her to run free and never chain this dog.

I agree to be responsible for any property damage from this day forward that this pet may incur.

I agree to notify Precious Paws Asian Dog Rescue if animal comes up missing or stolen or confiscated by the authorities.

I agree that this pet will remain in my custody and possession. I will not sell, trade, give away, transfer ownership or dispose of him/her, including taking this rescue pet to any other rescue organization or shelter. Pet must be returned to Precious Paws if not in my possession unless otherwise agreed by rescue, in writing. If there are no foster homes available, I agree to keep the pet I adopted inside my home, safe, well cared for and happy until a foster home opens up or another adopter is approved

I may return this rescue pet at any time during it's life to the rescue organization, but I understand that I will not be refunded my adoption fee. I understand that Precious Paws Asian and Small Breed Dog Rescue will not refund any costs; such as veterinary expenses, license fees, or the cost of pet supplies. I agree that I am hereby responsible for any and all costs incurred by this animal from adoption day forward.

I understand that most rescue pets do not come with a history and I will not hold said rescue responsible, liable for any mistake in the interpretation of age, temperament or training level. I understand this pet has been seen by a veterinarian, however,I understand and agree that Precious Paws Asian and Small Breed Dog Rescue can not be responsible for the physical condition or temperament of this dog, nor can they guarantee the pet is housebroken.

I am aware that this pet has been in the custody of Precious Paws Asian and Small Breed Dog Rescue due to cruelty, neglect, injury or abandonment prior to being rescued. It may take several weeks-to-months for him/her to adjust to their new home, including housebreaking just as with any animal. These are rescue pets and living things. Nothing can ever be guaranteed in regards to a living being with a mind of it's own, no matter where you get it from. We can merely give you an assessment of our experience with the pet while in our care. We were not the owners who abused/neglected and/or abandoned said rescue pet, we merely saved their life. Therefore we cannot possibly know everything about them. You must expect to have to train, bond and help your new pet become the loving, secure, happy pet that they deserve to be. THIS TAKES TIME. That would be the case with any pet, even a puppy bought from elsewhere who would most likely need more training than an older pet. ALL pets require a great amount of work and responsibility.

No refund of adoption fees once pet is adopted under any circumstances. After paying an adoption fee this fee is immediately absorbed into the rescue and is unable to be refunded.

PLEASE ANSWER EVERY QUESTION THOROUGHLY AND EXPLAIN YOUR ANSWER/REASONING WHEN ASKED.
